Abstract

This study explores the role of religious moderation in supporting the development and sustainability of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in Tana Toraja, a region with religious and cultural diversity. Using a descriptive qualitative approach through in depth interviews with Muslim and non-Muslim business owners and the Toraja Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI), the results show that religious moderation encourages tolerance, mutual respect, and cooperation among business owners of various faiths. The implementation of halal certification principles that are open to all business owners regardless of religion strengthens consumer trust and encourages inclusive economic growth. Furthermore, digital transformation and social cooperation contribute to the sustainability of halal-based MSMEs. This study concludes that religious moderation serves not only as a moral foundation but also as an effective economic strategy to improve social welfare and create harmony in a pluralistic society.
