Abstract
Bank Wakaf Micro (BWM) is a program to establish a Sharia Micro Financial Institution (LKMS) initiated by the Otoritas Jasa Keuangan (OJK) through Laznas Bangun Sejahtera Mitra Umat (BSM Umat) in order to overcome the problem of inequality and poverty through empowering the economic community by carrying out functions accompaniment. The problem that arises in this study is the empowerment model that can maintain the continuity of empowerment activities, so that the improvement of this empowerment model can later be made an ideal role model for the community empowerment model based on Islamic boarding schools.
In his concept, Hernando De Soto, the way to overcome poverty is to increase the access of the poor in improving their lives, including access to information, education and access to business capital. De Soto explained that an easy way to access business capital is to legalize the assets of the poor so that the poor can enter and compete in the market economy system. In this dissertation, it is found that the development for access to business capital for the poor is through the Micro Waqf Bank which does not require collateral. As a safety net at this BWM, a modification of the grameen bank model was made which is applied with sharia contracts. Keywords
